Workshops

I offer small, supportive creative writing workshops. Workshops follow the Amherst Artists and Writers method and focus on identifying what is strong and powerful in each other’s work. All workshops are generative, meaning that we write during the workshop time itself. Some include time to workshop pieces you’ve written or revised outside of the workshop.

When we write together, we practice together. Like yoga or mindfulness, writing as a practice offers a pathway for discovery, creativity, and personal growth. We improve with practice, by simply showing up and writing. When we write in community, we listen deeply to the words of others and that, in turn, helps us tune into our own writing with greater insight and clarity.

With gentle guided instruction we improve our craft, our stamina, and our ability to write our most important work.

“I completed my first short story and started feeling more excited about writing in general. The practice and core values of empowerment, encouragement, self-respect and support have been a model of what I want my writing life to look and feel like.”
